Scope of Work
Project Overview
As Principal UX/UI Designer, I led the design of a new payment experience within the Triangle Mobile App, enabling users to instantly resolve missed credit card payments via Interac e-Transfer integration. My initial approach included the following:
Problem Space
When customers missed a credit card payment, the app offered limited ways to resolve it. This created friction for customers needing to quickly restore their credit availability, avoid locked cards and for the institution, it delayed revenue collection. Challenges Included:
Only surfaced on the credit card screen, not the home screen.
Had no clear Call-to-Actions to pay immediately or make an arrangement.
Relied solely on traditional payments, which took 3–5 business days to process.
Original implementation design — low visibility, no direct action available, confusing journey.
Users can pay immediately or commit to paying their minimum by a chosen date.
Interac e-Transfer
Payments directly from the app, with funds typically applied to available credit within hours.
Visible as soon as you open the app with an enhanced alert component with the multiple-touchpoints for visibilty and ease of action
Accessibility Enhancements
Clearer messaging, textual hierarchy, colour contrast, UI fixes (spacing, padding etc.)
Flexible edge-case flows
Designed journeys and microcopy to ensure users choose the right path
Previous state on the left, new implementation on the right
Accessibility Enhancements
Adjusted colors and typography to meet WCAG AA, improving legibility and visual harmony.
Credit Summary Simplified
Merged key balances into one view, reducing clutter and improving quick comprehension.
Replaced the picker with a single eligible date, simplifying choices and ensuring accuracy.
Carefully Crafted
A redesigned alerts component now does more than just signal an issue; they now guide action. The old version failed contrast checks, buried key details, and offered no flexibility in CTAs. The new design improves accessibility, emphasizes the most important information, and introduces dynamic CTAs like “View Details” or “Pay Now”, turning a static warning into an actionable moment that drives user engagement and clarity.
Along with the alerts component, many different edge-cases were completed for easy development hand off, product prototyping for presentations to teams and executives and for future-proofing any new enhancements by other team members.

Key Learnings
I’m proud of what our team accomplished here. Missing a credit card payment is never a great feeling, but we were able to design an experience that replaces anxiety with reassurance. That’s what good design should do, meet people with empathy when they need it most.
